Our Origins

The Graphic Arts Association was founded in 1888 as a business association for publishing and printing firms and related businesses. Since then, it has evolved from what was a local business group to a regional trade association serving Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware.

Our original name, Typothetae of Philadelphia, was changed to Printing Industries of Philadelphia in 1946. In 1967, the named changed again to the Graphic Arts Association of Delaware Valley and then to Graphic Arts Association in 1982 as the association expanded its area.

As a member of GAA, you also become part of Printing Industries of America. Printing Industries of America is the world’s largest graphic arts trade association offering technical conferences and workshops, training and research programs.
