spontaneously and proactively work together to bring the best value to the print consumer, where the ideals of
continuous improvement are the fundamental philosophy of partnership, and where companies participate fully in
their trade associations and in advocacy for the industry. We envision a future where government and the public
recognize the economic necessity of a strong graphic arts industry, where careers in the graphic arts are highly
valued, and where the industry's continued growth and profitability are assured.
Our Origins
The Graphic Arts Association was founded in 1888 as a business association for publishing and printing
firms and related businesses. Since then, it has evolved from what was a local business group to a regional trade
association serving Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware.
Our original name, Typothetae of Philadelphia, was changed to Printing Industries of Philadelphia in 1946.
In 1967, the named changed again to the Graphic Arts Association of Delaware Valley and then to Graphic Arts
Association in 1982 as the association expanded its area.
As a member of GAA, you also become part of Printing Industries of America. Printing Industries of America is the world’s largest graphic arts trade association offering technical conferences and
workshops, training and research programs.
